James Alliban is a digital artist, an educator and a freelance web designer/developer who lives in St Albans, UK. He holds a first class honours degree in Software Systems for the Arts and Media which was obtained from the University of Hertfordshire, and recently completed an MA in Hyperfictions (also at UH) for which he recieved a distinction. He is involved with the creation of web based interactive artefacts and screen based installations that generate associative narrative forms. His work is an investigation of the constantly evolving relationships that form through the intersection of nature, technology and art.
His major study involved an investigation of screen based digital installations. This research culminated in an installation called Writing Place. It is an audiovisual interactive installation in which the participant's motions are captured and mirrored back to them in the form of a collage of text, graphics and sound. The mood of this literary environment is controlled by the degree of movement of those who enter it.
